Cashier’s Checks
Guaranteed check issued against money taken from a member’s account or against cash provided for this purpose.
Money Orders
Order for a max of $1,000 sum of money purchased with cash that can be used to make payments.
VISA® Gift Cards
Card that has been pre-paid for purchases. A small fee applies.
VISA®/Merchant Program
If you are a business and need your customers to have the convenience of charging to a credit card or debit card this is the program for you.
Notary Services
Services that are provided in each branch office, free to our members. A nominal fee may apply for non-members.
Fax Services
Services that are provided in each branch office, a nominal fee may apply.
Credit Life and Disability Insurance
Available for consumer, commercial and agriculture loans. Please ask your loan officer for details.
NADA Quotations
Need the value of a used vehicle? Call one of our loan officers they will be more than happy to help you.
Night Depository
Can’t make it to the credit union during office hours? All of our offices have a safe and secure night deposit drop.
Coin Counting Service
If you have extra coin lying around bring it in. This service is free to our members, a nominal fee for non-members.
ACH Origination
Like the convenience of your monthly bills, payments and other items being paid automatically? We are set up to do that—contact us for the correct routing number and account number to make this a reality.
Telephone Transfer Funds
Need to transfer some funds, and you’re not around a computer? Call any of the offices; our friendly staff will be more than willing to help. Contact Us
US Savings Bonds
Registered bond issued by the U.S. government in denominations of $50 to $10,000. It allows people to earn interest on the savings they entrust to the government in exchange for the bond.
Safe Deposit Boxes (Hettinger Office)
Keep those valuables such as jewelry, wills or documents, in a credit union safe deposit box. We have a small yearly fee for this service.
Direct Deposit
Want your payroll or income tax return deposited directly into your account? Contact us for the correct routing number and account number to make this happen.
ACH Withdrawals
Need a payment set up to come out of your account automatically? Call our MSR/ACH specialist at 605-374-3380.
Wire Transfers
Need money transferred to another account, different state, or another city; wherever it may be our member service staff will be more than willing to help. This service does require a signature.
Automatic (internal) Transfers
This service will save you an overdraft charge providing you have the funds available in your share savings account. Transfer money from one account to another such as from your checking to savings on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis to help you put funds away for a rainy day. For more details ask your Member Service Representative.

Savings
Your savings federally insured to at least $250,000 and backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government. National Credit Union Administration, a U.S. Government Agency. Your savings account at Dakota Plains FCU is your primary savings tool. This account provides a good place to start saving while you enjoy the many other benefits, products and services that are associated with your membership. The only requirement to maintaining an active membership in Dakota Plains Federal Credit Union is to keep two shares at a value of $5.00 each ($10.00) in a regular savings account. With this you are also entitled to one vote per membership at our annual meeting. So, kick back and relax, while your money grows with dividends paid quarterly on your savings account.

Money Market
Time is money! We let you make good use of both. If you don’t want to tie up all your funds in a certificate and want an account that will yield a competitive dividend rate, this is the account for you! Dakota Plains FCU offers a Money Market Account that offers you the flexibility you want and a better return on your money. Requirements for money market accounts are:
- Minimum balance of $1,000.00
- Dividends are compounded and paid monthly
- Checks can be used on this account – maximum of 3 per month

IRA’s
An Individual Retirement Account (IRA) is a type of savings to give consumers a tax-advantage incentive to save for retirement and education. There are three types of IRA’s, the Traditional IRA, the Roth IRA, and the Coverdell Education Savings Account. Each has unique characteristics and specific eligibility requirements and are available at Dakota Plains Federal Credit Union. A brief description of each IRA type is outlined below:
- Traditional IRA – These accounts are available to anyone under the age of 70 who has income from compensation. The maximum contribution is $5,500 per year and $6,500 per year if over the age of 50. Penalty free withdrawals are available for IRA owners who reach the age 59 1/2, become disabled, or have qualifying medical expenses. Other exclusions may apply.
- Roth IRA – This IRA does not allow contributions to be tax deductible. However, withdrawals from a Roth IRA may be tax-free. Withdrawals from a Roth IRA are tax and penalty free, if the account has been open for at least five years and the owner is either over the age of 59 1/2, disabled, buying a first home, or deceased.
- Coverdell Education Savings Account – Contributions to the account are not tax deductible, but the earnings will be tax-free if used for qualified higher education expenses. Contributions cannot exceed $2,000.00 per child, per year. If parents, grandparents and others have set up an account for the same child, their contributions cannot exceed $2,000.00 per child per year. Careful tracking is important to avoid possible penalties.
Special Programs
Pee Wee Penguin Club
The Pee Wee Penguin Club is a savings account offered to youth ages newborn to thirteen years. The savings account pays one percent higher dividend than a regular savings account and dividend is paid and compounded quarterly. Dividends are earned on a minimum of $100 and the maximum is $2,500. It only takes $10 to open a Pee Wee Penguin account. it also helps to teach your child to save responsibly and how to manage money at a young age. Your child can watch their money grow effectively and efficiently toward a brighter future.
Teen Saver
Teen Saver, is a program designed for those members between the ages of 13 to 19, to provide information and guidance through the financial transitions into adulthood. Teen Saver account owners receive an exclusive dividend rate.
Share Certificates
If you’re looking for an investment plan that will offer a competitive rate but are afraid to tie up your investments for too long, a share certificate may be just what you need. Dakota Plains FCU has a variety of certificates designed to meet your financial needs. We offer certificates with maturities of 3-6 month, 1-5 year with a minimum Share Rate of $250.00 on the 3-6 month and $100.00 on 1-5 year. Rates are based on the amount deposited into the certificate. We also have a child add-on certificate, limited add on amount is $20.00 per transaction. There is a penalty of 30-days of dividends for early withdrawal, on a 3 & 6 month certificate, and a penalty of 90 days of dividends on a 1-5 year certificate.

Share Drafts
Are you looking for a share draft (checking account) that is convenient and easily accessible? If so, this is the account for you. Dakota Plains FCU offers an account to meet all our member’s financial needs. Our members can use the checking account as a personal or business account. Benefits of our checking account are:
